Access

Access to this cave is covered by the Harridge Woods area agreement (see here Harridge Woods Area ).

It is gated and requires a CSCC key. All visitors require an Online Permit and an Online Trip Report should be completed after each visit.

To access the cave, from the parking spot opposite the chapel ( see Google Map), go through the gate and follow the metalled path east into the reserve. Take the first footpath on the right, some 75m from the start of the walk. Follow this up hill and round an obvious left hand bend. Take the next turning on the right and again head up hill. After a while the path swings around to the right (you are now heading west). Look out for a marker post with a red band and the number 1 painted on the far side. About 10m beyond this, on the right and down in the valley below you, you should be able to see a rocky cliff and the cave entrance. The entrance is about 20m from the path and involves a steep descent through vegetation and fallen trees.

The main entrance is protected by a gate. Just before the gate, the small tube on the left leads a standing room chamber with a passage in the roof. This leads to a very tight exit to the rocks above the entrance cliff.
