Access

The cave is gated and has the standard CSCC padlock.

Please park cars tidily in the layby on the right, some 400m north of the Hunter's Lodge Inn (ST 54874 50584). Do not park on the private road in front of the Stock Hill cottages nor on the grass between the cottages and the road.

Take the footpath at the north end of the layby heading right into the woods. After some 50m there is a "No Access" gateway on the left, turn right at this point, ignoring the continuing path. Follow the faint trail into the woods and look for the entrance surrounded by a "collar" of mining spoil.

Please close the lid while you are in the cave.

WARNING At present, the lid cannot be unlocked from the inside. If the lid is unlocked when you arrive then there is another party in the cave. If they are unware of your presence then they may well lock you in when they leave. If in doubt leave a karabiner or sling attached to the entrance ladder to indicate you are still in the cave, better still leave a written note.
