Access

This site is gated and locked. Keys are held by the major Mendip Clubs. These are the ACG, BEC, CSS, MCG, MNRC, SMCC and WCC. Arrangements should be made with one of these clubs to borrow the key.

In case of difficulty contact the CSCC Conservation and Access Officer.

If exiting through Swildon?s Hole the goodwill fee (?1) should be paid in advance by placing in the letterbox at New Barn, in the yard past the changing barn.

Park carefully on the gravel surface opposite the barn. Avoid parking on the village green if possible, especially in winter when damage to the green by vehicles often annoys villagers. Additional parking is available on the top green (but not the village hall car park).

ALWAYS change in Manor Farm barn, near naked cavers cause considerable offence to villagers. Do not urinate in the barn, not only is it anti-social, but it pollutes the milk.

The cave is a serious undertaking. It is strenuous and very tight in places. NOTE: Weil?s disease has been contracted from this cave. Exit via the Mud Sump in Swildon?s Hole may not be possible since it is unbailable from the Priddy Green Sink side - it is not a free dive.?Exit via Trouble Series is a serious undertaking. The ducks may require a large amount of bailing. The third duck may not bail open, leaving you trapped between the ducks.?Seek local advice if you plan to do this trip and allow plenty of time for bailing the ducks.
